2019 OADF Scholarship Awarded through Vol State

The Once A Dream Foundation has partnered with Volunteer State Community College, and we are excited to announce that we will be awarding college-bound high school seniors scholarship opportunities! We encourage students who are enrolling at Vol State to apply for this scholarship!


The Once A Dream Foundation (OADF) Scholarship Fund Criteria

  • Purpose: The OADF awards scholarships to college-bound high school seniors based on demonstrated academic achievement and financial need.

  • Criteria: The students eligible for assistance must be graduating high school seniors who reside in Tennessee and intend to continue their education at Volunteer State Community College. Consideration will be given to students from disadvantaged* backgrounds.  Awards are given based on academic achievement and financial need. Applicants must have earned a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. Students should submit a scholarship application on the form provided by the Once A Dream Foundation. 

  •  Guidelines: Applicants must submit a double spaced minimum  500 - 600 word maximum essay. (Essay topic to be announced)

  • Scholarships will be awarded on a one-time basis and disbursed in August 2020. 

  • Amount: Scholarship awarded will be a of minimum of $500.

  • Application Opens: November 1, 2019

  •  Deadline: The application deadline is March 1, 2020. The deadline is the date after which applications will no longer be accepted. Applications directly mailed to OADF uses the postmarked date to determine mailed entries. 

  • Award Date: May 1, 2020

  • Renewal Process: This scholarship is not renewable. Only high school seniors intending to enroll to Volunteer State Community College are eligible to apply. 

* Youth from underserved populations – English learners, students with disabilities, economically disadvantaged students, and students who are Black, Hispanic, or Native American.
