Purpose & Pizza is a tutoring and mentoring afterschool program that serves students in underserved populations. Students in grades K – 12 meet every other week for two hours. During the first hour students are assisted with homework and general tutoring. Within the last hour of the program, they eat pizza and participate in themed fun activities that align with our four core values: Faith, Education, Helping Others and Accountability.
Within this program we address the following:
· College Preparation: Guidance through the admission process, financial aid application assistance, SAT/ACT test prep, exploring options for funding education
· Career Exploration
· Financial Literacy: How to create and manage a budget
· Self-Awareness
· STEM Education
· How to establish strong relationships with Christ
The purpose of this program is to equip students with the support, confidence, and resources that will prepare them to become self-sufficient, responsible, goal oriented and Christ-like individuals.
Purpose & Pizza is currently implemented in the Nashville Rescue Mission Family Shelter.
